Title: Understanding the IB Curriculum
Description:Whether working in or evaluating students from an IB program, it is helpful to understand the curriculum. Learn more about the IB program as Principal of International Academy Lynne Gibson talks about the program's core components and scoring and assessment of the diploma program. Lynne is also a Board Member of the International Baccalaureate Schools of Michigan. You will better understand the college and career implications for those obtaining the degree and what challenges they have encountered as they manage the intense workload. Understanding these aspects will allow counselors to support students in navigating the IB program effectively, and admission personnel will gain more insight into the intricacies of the curriculum.

Presenter(s): Lynne Gibson, Principal of all three International Academies in Oakland County

Title: 40 Tests to Rule Them All. Really?
Description: If you’re even a smidge like us we speculate, soothsay, predict all sorts of what-ifs around the ever-growing curb appeal of AP tests. From the get-go APs were better predictors of content mastery than the SAT or ACT could ever hope to be.  Even pre-pandemic enrollment numbers in AP tests trounced SAT and ACT by more than two to one.  Coupled with the continued shakiness around the SAT / ACT and the perennial grudge match between those Capulets and Montagues of testing only makes discipline centric tests more attractive. But what if those 40 tests could actually knock the other two from their optional or otherwise perches?  In that defrocking…sooooooo many questions sprout.  Well, MACAC’ers we’re gonna poke at those many and mighty questions together at this session!
