During his five years with NACAC, John McGrath helped to lead a reinvention of the association’s communications and public engagement activities, initiated new efforts to help student-athletes in the college transition process, and began NACAC’s first-ever Department of International Initiatives.
Previously, John served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Communications and Outreach, where he managed the Blue Ribbon Schools and Presidential Scholars programs; the Information Resource Center; the Department’s video and television production efforts; and the publication of the Helping Your Child series, with some 18 million copies in print. He has won the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service, the Council for Excellence in Government Senior Fellows Award, and the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Media Award.
John earned a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland, and he has also attended Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
